Focus on Quality

Did you know that 80 percent of your brain was wired by the time you turned three?

Often we downplay the importance of the early years in human development, but there is a growing body of evidence that documents how important these years are. Early learning creates a foundation for a lifetime. Opportunity School is one of only two nationally-accredited preschools in the Panhandle (the Central Campus downtown and the Amarillo College Lab School) and was named the first No Excuses University preschool in the U.S.

The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) publishes an annual yearbook on the state of preschool quality in our country. Some states score very well, some don't. The scorecard is based on 10 national quality standards. Here's how Opportunity School compares to the overall state score.
