Enrollment
Requirements for Enrollment:
Enrollment is open to any child, from six weeks to age 5, in the Amarillo/Canyon area, with preference given to low-income families. At least 90% of the families served must qualify for free or reduced meals under the USDA food program guidelines. Enrollment is granted in the order in which applications are received. There is typically a waiting list.
The school strives to maintain a balance of children of all races and backgrounds. Opportunity School does not discriminate in enrollment because of race, gender, ethnicity, national origin, political belief, religion, or disability. To attend Opportunity School, a child must:
- Have completed immunizations required by law for the age level.
- Have a doctor’s examination prior to entrance. For children entering in August, the school provides the doctor’s examination at school during September if the parent desires this service.
- Be at least three years of age by September 1st of the year entering for the part-day preschool program.
- Be at least six weeks old for the childcare program.

Fees:
Opportunity School tuition is charged according to a sliding scale based on family income and the number of people in the family. The fee for a second child in the family is one-half of the regular fee. Proof of income is required upon enrollment. Parents are liable for information given and are responsible for notifying the school throughout the year when there is a change in income.
Fee Ranges:
- Part-day Preschool Tuition is a monthly rate between $18 and $120 (plus $5 bus fee if applicable).
- Full-time Childcare fees range from $77.50/week to $109.70/week.
- Part-time Childcare fees range from $59.00/week to $94.60/week.
