Edwards Campus

Full-Day, Year-Round Learning & Care | Early Head Start & Head Start Campus

Opportunity School opened the Edwards Campus in 2021 in an area of Northeast Amarillo that had few options for working families or parents who are in school. Thanks to the support of many donors, we were able to move our Grand Street Campus operation over to Edwards in September of 2021.

The Edwards Campus features full-day, year-round learning and care for children ages infants through preschool. We are a long-time partner with Region 16 and are one of the few programs that feature both Early Head Start (0-3 years) and Head Start within our program. Families looking to enroll their child at the Edwards Campus will enroll first through Region 16 for eligibility and then will complete the registration with Opportunity School.

Edwards also has meal service with breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack which is prepared on-site by Opportunity School's Chef Felicha and her team. They prepare homecooked meals at our Edwards location for all the children in our program that meet the dietary needs of all of our children in partnership with the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Our full-time early intervention specialist works with our young students of all ages to help enhance their skills with additional therapy and referrals as needed for speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and behavioral and developmental screenings. We provide the necessary supports to help families so that these wee learners blossom as they grow!

Eighty percent of our brain is wired by the time we turn 3 years old so we are grateful for this partnership with families to provide learning and care to our youngest students to help them receive the best start possible. We know that good beginnings never end when we start early.

Enrollment is open to all with preference given to low-income families. Open enrollment is ongoing as slots become available. Opportunity School does not discriminate in enrollment because of race, gender, ethnicity, national origin, political belief, religion, or disability.
