FOCUS ON QUALITY

Updated: Feb 20

Did you know that 80 percent of your brain was wired by the time you turned three?

Often we downplay the importance of the early years in human development, but there is a growing body of evidence that documents how important these years are. Early learning creates a foundation for a lifetime. Opportunity School (both campuses) is one of the only nationally-accredited early learning programs in the Panhandle and goes through a rigorous evaluation program by the National Association for the Education of Young Children every five years and reports on our programs annually. Opportunity School's campuses have consistently been rated as a 4-Star Provider as part of the Texas Rising Star Program. This is the quality rating system for the state's child care system.

The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) publishes an annual yearbook on the state of preschool quality in our country. Some states score very well, some don't. The scorecard is based on 10 national quality standards. Here's how Opportunity School compares to the overall state score.
